New Wii SKU in the Works?

Posted by: dvbrevolution in 1. Wii News & Articles

Maybe I’m missing something here but a new update from my distributor contact reveals a second Wii console (it’s currently being called “New Pack”) that is expected to be sent out to retailers soon. I have tried to do a bit of digging regarding this unit. The UPC of this item is “045496880088″ and although no information is available at this time, UPC search engines reveal that it is owned by Nintendo of America. Either this unit is just a regular Wii with a new UPC, or we can expect a brand new Wii sku/bundle to hit retailers this Holiday Season. The retail price is expected to be around $289.99 (CAN) based on the information I have available. Perhaps we can expect a new color? Nevertheless, we were promised big news in September and hopefully, this was supposed to be it.

Nice. Even though I already have a Wii. By the way, whatever happened to the Check Mii Out channel?

Wii + Wii Sports + Super Mario Galaxy?

    Wii + Wii Fit?

There is supposed to be new colors coming out for Christmas for the Wii, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this is a new Stock Keeping Unit. It might even coincide with a new pack-in game! Anyone remember the GameCube Stock Keeping Units that had the Metroid decals and included a Metroid game?

    Or maybe:
Wii + Wii Sports + Zapper Bundle?

I’m guessing nobody CHECKED their Wii this morning or Nintendo.com?

For SOME odd reason Nintendo has released this weird little rubber Wiimote CONDOM that protects it from getting damage or damaging anything else when thrown or dropped. It looks like pure retardation.

ALL new Wii consoles AND individual Wii-Remotes will come packaged with these things.. and for anyone who already bought a Wii, you can enter your system serial number at Nintendo.com and get these weird things shipped to your house for your current WiiRemotes. Free. Of. Charge.

There we go. My good deed for the day :3

Seriously though. Go read the message from Nintendo on your Wii’s and then go to Nintendo.com and LOOK at the things. Looks like a giant rubber light bulb on the end of your Wii-Remote!

I saw it last night. I still doubt that those would drive the price up. According to IGN, Nintendo is going to take losses by packed those in. (the loss of paying for them and then giving them away)
That would indicate that the price of the Wii will not go up because of them.

On a side note: I already put in for 4 covers even though I only have 3 Wii-motes right now. :P Free stuff rules!

Well you can get them for free off the website if you own a Wii, of course I don’t know the conversion from Canada to American dollars, but if it is more expensive I’m crossing my fingers for black. Then I can stop bumming off my buddy.

They’ll bundle it with some game, obviously.

But what game? My guess is that they want as many unit of Mario and Wii Fit out there as possible. The more Mario/Fit packs you make, the less separate games you can sell. So many variables..

Oh and that protection thing rocks! Well from the look of it. I’m getting 4 even though I only have 2 Wii remotes.

So the Dutch really are cheap. ;-p Well, I got 1 more than I needed of those wrist strap replacements. But this time I won’t get extras, because I don’t see myself ever using them. Maybe for when a little nephew/niece wants to play.

I’ll end up with 4 remotes anyway. It’s just that I’m waiting for new colours, and a probable price drop.

Black Wii + Super Mario Galaxy……I wish.

My guess is that maybe a Wii with a DVD player…bundled with a Zapper/game.

Yeah but by the time you buy those two other Wiimotes, they’ll probably come packaged with the…. rubber.

I guess you guys didn’t see the blue light glowing today. There was a mail from Nintendo stating that all new Wiis are going to come with a “Wii Remote Jacket.” I wouldn’t be surprised in the least bit if that was the only change to this “new” SKU.

If any of you currently with Wiis want to get a free “Wii Remote Jacket,” you can go to Nintendo.com and fill in some info. They said they’ll start shipping them on October 15th.

[…] UPC Update reveals “Wii Play ‘n Learn” I’m sure most of you can recall the report (Click Here) regarding the possibility of a new sku. A new UPC update with the same UPC regarding the “sku” reveals that the item is “Wii Play ‘n Learn”. It also seems that there are three pending updates, so we’ll see what exactly this is. Perhaps a new bundle with a learning game included instead of Wii Sports? Will keep you all updated. […]
