Square-Enix’s Producer Hiromichi Tanaka had a recent keynote at the GDC Austin, Texas event earlier today and had the following to say in regards to the Wii:
“As for Nintendo Wii, it will be pretty difficult if you were to cross-platform for a couple reasons. One is that Nintendo’s currently not allowing different cross-platform titles, and as you know, the resolution differences make it harder for us to make cross-platform games. Currently we’re not looking at Nintendo Wii as a platform (for MMO’s). (Tanaka goes on to state that MMO’s on the Wii are possible if a hard drive attachment would be available, but Nintendo has made no statement regarding a possibility of one for the future)”

Squenix + Nintendo = A+++
Especially for a large group of “hardcore”
I hope Nintendo isn’t releasing a hard drive because they think people won’t buy into it.
Having cross-platform play would certainly be fun!
I am however, getting sick of all these companies saying: It is possible, or something of that nature.

How many gigs do you need to store stuff for an MMO anyway? Is a 2gig SD card not enough?
Just put a special sticker on it, pack it with the game and sell it for moar money than it’s worth.
