BREAKING CR EXCLUSIVE: LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga, Thrillville II, Pool Party,
Posted by: dvbrevolution in 1. Wii News & Articles

Yup it’s that time again! CR has been right thus far whether it’s first revealing Spyro or High School Musical, a new update from my distributor contact (Note: There is a difference between a distributor and a retailer!) reveals that LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is heading to the Wii this holiday season! It seems obvious that the game is a compilation and a port of both LEGO Star Wars titles that was on the Gamecube, but this time with Wii-mote controls!
Not only is LEGO Star Wars for the Wii one of the first Lucasarts games on the platform, the sequel to Lucasarts’ Thrillville is also headed to the Wii this October! Also listed is “Pool Party”, by an unknown developer.

All right! I loved both of the games on the Gamecube, so this should be a great buy!

This sounds cool in the least, if the motion control is done right. But I wanted to see the lightsaber game first…

It’s better for Lucasarts to get used to the controls rather than work on a lightsaber game and screw things up, they know how important a lightsaber game is…this is their perfect chance!

That’s assuming the same group of developers who’re porting this over are the same people who’ll make the lightsaber game.
Now on the one hand, I’m glad that I’ll have a chance at this series without having to bother buying the previous game separately (though hopefully they’ll add more to this than merely being a port — i.e. 480p, widescreen, new content, improved visuals, etc.). On the other hand, while they create “ooh, new physics engines,” “Euphoria,” and blah blah blah and Force Unleashed, Indiana Jones, Fracture, etc. for the other systems, THIS is what the Wii is getting. Gee thanks a lot. I for one am not keen to be somebody’s piggy bank without interest coming back to me. I don’t like the idea of me supporting such companies buying something as Plain Jane as LSW just so they can fill their coffers to fund BIG game efforts that won’t be for the system I have which I got games like LSW for. I’d better see something bigger from all these “experiments” and “wait and see” efforts.

Thrillville II is listed as well from Lucasarts, so its not a “port” from a last-gen game….besides Lucasarts said the game they would be working on the Wii would NOT be the lightsaber game we expect…give them time let them work out the kinks instead of bringing us a lightsaber game that becomes as gimmicky as Red Steel’s sword system…

They got plenty of time (and money tee hee) to make a lightsabre game for the Wii. With all the time it would take to make the game, they would have PLENTY of time to make the controls work.
Oh and yeah Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo on VC.

[…] A Star Wars game is infact coming to the Wii, but it’s probably not the one you were hoping for. Infact, it’s a compilation title of the Starwars Lego games. Still awesome in their own respects, but certainly not the 1:1 lightsaber motion we know the Wii was simply created for. The news comes from Codename Revolution who say the title will be a one disc compilation of all the Starwars Lego games, and I wouldn’t put it passed them to leave it wholly untouched, so expect some sort of waggle control. The game will require some serious re-working as it simply wasn’t tailored around the Wii if they choose to go that route. But at least if the attempt fails, we can quietly shove it under the carpet and wait for the real Starwars game.
