Nintendo Dream Interview with Planning GM
Posted by: dvbrevolution in 1. Wii News & ArticlesNintendo’s Planning General Manager Mitsuaki Hagishima was interviewed recently in the latest issue of Nintendo Dream in Japan. In summary, Hagishima revealed that Nintendo does not have any plans for a different colored Wii, however they do plan to release different Wii-mote colors. The reason for Nintendo releasing in the United States first was in order to get the console in before Thanksgiving.

You think the Wii has removable face plates? We’ve seen a white and green one… that’s definitely a different colored Wii imo? But it was still white base, just a different face plate? That’d be good for customization, 360 does that too anyway

Well the green ones were debug units so I’m not sure about faceplates…

That’s stupid, I mean the very first pictures they ever showed were of, what, 5 different colors? And when IGN got to play them there were different colored ones.

Mark my words: There WILL be multiple colors, it just will not come until some time next year after sales and supply have settled. Nintendo needs to streamline distribution as much as possible for a launch like this and having fewer SKU’s helps to do that.

Same here ‘Someone’, I bought a black DSl so that I can get it to match the black Wii that I was planning to get at launch but it turns out, only white was announced. Im a bit disappointed but guess I’ll wait.

Hmm. They did the EXACT same thing with the DS Lite over here in the US. As soon as they start getting low on the first-run white Wii, they will start with the pink Wii, the blue Wii, and the black Wii to match the Wii-motes. And they might bring out the green one, even…
